The Difference Between Equity & Equality?

This is a question that we often get asked and enjoy answering, essentially, equality means each individual or group of people is given the same resources or opportunities; within an organisation an equal approach is very good, as it means all employees have the same tools for success and the business can thrive as a unit.

However, when recruiting, it is important to remember that each person has different circumstances and may require different resources to take hold of the same opportunities. This is why we have chosen to focus on equity as our belief. By enacting equity we are recognising these different circumstances and allocating the exact resources and opportunities needed to reach an equal outcome, thus the openings we provide will be fair and accessible.

“The route to achieving equity will not be accomplished through treating everyone equally. It will be achieved by treating everyone justly according to their circumstances.”
